PhD position in the atom-atom entanglement project

We look for a highly motivated candidate to join our project on entanglement of single atoms over a large distance. This research is focused on employing quantum systems (trapped Rb atoms and single photons) for quantum communication applications like teleportation or violations of Bell's inequality. The involved techniques include in particular laser cooling and trapping of atoms, manipulation and read-out of internal atomic states, as-well as advanced optics and communication over optical fibers.
Based on the previous work the topic of the PhD thesis will be on the demonstration of advanced communication protocols in the field of quantum networks.
